THE 2009 MATTEI FESTIVAL promises to be a top international vocal festival. In addition to artistic director Peter Mattei, many renowned vocalists from the great opera stages of the world will be performing. The festival is a week of music, mainly from the classical repertoire. Venues include the newly opened arts centre, Kulturens Hus, and the beautiful churches of Luleå. The 2009 Mattei Festival is an initiative of the culture-sector committee of local business development agency, Luleå Näringsliv AB, with funding from the Norrbottensakademien foundation, whose mission is to support enterprise and culture in Norrbotten.
