The Matteifestival 2011

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The 2011 Matteifestival: A festival in the name of music!

In 2009 the Matteifestival was arranged for the first time, with the famous opera singer Peter Mattei as artistic director. Both critics and audiences hailed the festival a great success.

The main performance in 2009 festival was Peters own interpretation of Mozart´s Don Giovanni. Peter played two roles simultaneously, the lead actor/singer and director. Along with him on stage were his friends, in the form of opera singers of world class standard. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, led by conductor Daniel Harding, preformed the music.

In addition, the audience could listen to a Baroque Concert with Marlena Ernman and the Norrbotten NEO chamber ensemble. The audience also got to experience jazz legend Kurt Elling.

A festival in the name of music!

For the 2011 festival, Peter´s goal is to make a festival “in the name of music." The main performance for the upcoming event will be Le Nozza Di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), which according to Peter is the “Opera of Operas."

The Matteifestival proudly presents the famous conductor Louis Langree. Together with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra from Örebro, they will provide music. Once again, Peter will bring together his well-known friends to join him on stage in Luleå.

In addition to Figaro, the festival will offer the audience a wonderful spring concert with Peter Mattei and the Lund University Male Voice Choir on Saturday afternoon. Later that day, visitors can take their seats and listen to the Swedish Chamber Orchestra together with a soloist performing Schubert in a concert without a conductor.
